We’ve heard touches of absolute creative excellence from Jack White and his Stripes, but Icky Thump off of the Album by the same name is the String Theory of Rock and Roll—simple, yet astonishingly brilliant. With original guitar sounds and lyrics that are higher brow than an NPR program, Icky Thump makes for great repeated listening.

This month’s Ear Bone also features the beats behind The Blow in Jona Bechtolt’s Yacht. Silly sick beats mix behind some 1930s female vocalist in “See A Penny (Pick It Up)”. We round out the playlist with some rock music by the Klaxons and Hot Hot Heat.
