Veronika Scott came from a troubled background, but what she did with an opportunity to receive a college education will change the lives of countless of people for the better.
The Empowerment Plan is a Detroit-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless community. Started by Scott, they hire homeless women from local shelters and train them to become full time seamstresses. These women manufacture a coat that transforms into a sleeping bag, which is then given out to homeless individuals living on the streets at no cost to them.
We’ve criticized Detroit a lot, but you gotta love a story like this. Kudos to Veronika for making a difference!
